The Brief

The Swag is an Australian brand providing reusable produce bags, patented and designed to keep fruit, vegetables and leafy greens fresh, crisp and nutrient rich in the crisper of the fridge for an avarage of two weeks or more. Made from three unique layers of 100% natural, unbleached and unseeded cotton, when dampened down, The Swag enables the produce to both breathe and hydrate, helping to significantly slow down the rotting process in fruit and veggies. The Swag saves the average Austalian household $1,500 per year in fresh food waste. They are machine washable and built to last years with proper care.

This brief focuses on conducting user research into The Swag’s core target audience. Students should aim to segment this audience into their core personas and use various research techniques to uncover their underlying motivations and pain points in relation to The Swag products.

  • Research the target audience and define their decision making process for The Swag’s online products.
  • Provide a recommendation to The Swag on how best to engage with this audience. This may include content or website related suggestions.

Your mentor will guide you every step of the way!

Andrew began working in tech when internet modems operated at 11kb per second and made that funny noise while dialing up. Most recently he has been working in stealth mode on a disruptive startup that aims to safely give every human being on earth their own artificially intelligent super powers – Simby.

Prior to Simby, Andrew was leading a UX design team at Google in Mountain View California, focusing on deep tech and the products of the future. He was responsible for envisioning, prototyping, and building product solutions that affect the daily lives of billions of human beings. He is a TEDx speaker and has worked as a technology advisor in customer experience for a number of high profile multinational organisations in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin and Sydney. With a wealth of real world experience, Andrew loves to help fellow UX designers to reach their personal or project related goals while being able to remain true to themselves, and the needs of their customers.
